On the Job...
Wow! I haven't woken up at 5:30 for a long ass time. That is way too early. I am not used to it! I was hoping that they would have donuts and juice. Most places like that do have free breakfast when you have to wake up that early in the morning. Of course I got lost and I had to be annoying and ring the bell. It sucked. I don't like to be annoying. So one of the HR ladies told me where to go and I still got lost. She finally was walking down to the orientation and I just followed her.
We got into this tiny room and there was only two other people. I was like wow... there's not very many people. And no donuts were in sight. So, she explained benefits that I would not be getting because I am a PRN. What's a PRN? It's someone who is called to fill in for vacations or illnesses. So, I don't get benefits but I get a higher pay rate because of that fact. Plus, a shift differential if 50% of my shift is after 3. Which sounds like it will be. So, YAY for me! Mo money... mo problems!
After she explained the benies, she walked us down to the Forum where our actual orientation was being held. Guess what! FREE DONUTS AND JUICE! It was so yummy. The donuts were delicious. I had two and a OJ and a Apple Juice. My tummy was doing the happy dance! The happy dance... the amazing happy dance! The orientation was the same ole same ole. Except we had an opening prayer. I was kind of shocked because of the diverseness today. I was surprise someone wasn't outraged by this! I was ok with it. It was just weird. Then it was complete with cheesy videos about pension and customer service.
Afterwards, we had lunch with our supervisors. I could have anything that I wanted. I got a Guest Pass Meal Card. So I could get salad, main course, drinks, desserts. ANYTHING! But I was with my supervisor so I didn't want to be a pig. I had stuffed pasta shells, garlic bread, a side salad and some Sierra Mist. YUM!! We sat down and talk about awkward. We would mainly stare at our plates or out the window. Did some small talk about my daughter and all that. But wow! What do you talk to total stangers about... no less your supervisors! Where your actions or the things that you say will be judged and all that. Creepy experience.
I was going to work after the orientation. But I showed up wearing jeans. Ok, so what do you think it mean when we can wear "street clothes"? I thought jeans were acceptable. Oh well, I'll be working tomorrow. That's ok. I was tired today anyways.
It was a good day all in all. I am very glad to be back in the workforce. I didn't think I'd miss it. But it's nice to be making some money. YAY for me! WOOT!

Zero Juicy TidBits?!?!?
You gotta be kidding me! Well, I'm glad I got the first one in this particular entry!
Donuts and Juice. I wish my job would'a had donuts and juice. But then I'm sure most of my coworkers would, too. Donuts and juice, Donuts and juice, nobody doesn't like donuts and juice.
I too hate awkward silences. And I even more hate people who have seniority or power over me. No one rules me. So when it comes to talking to people who can fire me at the drop of a hat, I just tend to keep the conversation work-oriented. "How long have you been here," "What's the worst day you seen so far," "what's with that wierd thing over there?" kinda stuff.
Luckily for me, I've realized that my workplace is more or less a free-for-all as far as conversation goes. So long as no one corporate is around, nobody cares what I say or do, so long as no customers get assaulted. Though I too dislike being annoying, which I am much of the time.
ON TO THE NEXT ENTRY!!!
